Pegasus Aviación moves forward in its sustainability program

The company calculates greenhouse gas emissions taking 2020 as the base year, in order to know the real impact of its activity on the environment

Pegasus Aviación has registered its carbon footprint for the year 2020 in the Registry of Carbon Footprint, Compensation and Absorption Projects of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, as part of its Strategic Plan for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals and those of the 2030 Agenda, foreseen in the Group’s sustainability program.

This Registry, of a voluntary nature, shows the concern of Pegasus Aviación for the development of productive actions of a greener nature, another element of continuous improvement and business differentiation. This Project, led by the Group’s Quality, Safety and Environment Department, involves the technical analysis of all material and energy consumption recorded during the base year, identifying the most significant emission sources and establishing a reduction plan, in order to minimize the carbon footprint in the coming years.

Additionally, Pegasus Aero Group has verified its carbon footprint in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14064-1:2012 standard, which will allow it to know and control the organization’s emissions, thus allowing it to improve its competitiveness and increase its actions in a more sustainable environment and align itself even more with the SDG policies that its national and international clients are carrying out. Both the emission reduction plan and the carbon footprint plan have been verified by an accredited external entity.

Thanks to this Project, the Group takes a further step in its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and those of the 2030 Agenda, constituting the calculation of the carbon footprint as a first measure to advance in SDG 13 “Climate Action”. ”, generating positive impacts on SDG 3 (Health and Well-being), SDG 7 (Affordable and non-polluting energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption).
